Inter captain Javier Zanetti is considering extending his contract and playing for the Nerazzurri for a further year.

The Argentine is currently 39 years old and will be 40 before the 2013/14 Serie A campaign starts. Even so, he is not yet thinking about hanging up his boots and remains a regular option for Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni.

With Zanetti’s contract at Inter expiring next summer, he would have to agree a new deal to stay and, he has confirmed, he will be speaking to Stramaccioni and the club about his future.

"I’m going to talk with my club after my contract [ends]", said the Inter captain.

"In consultation with the coach and the president I will decide whether to continue.

"The first thing is to ensure Inter get back to the very top."

Zanetti has been with Inter for over 17 years.

He has made over 800 appearances in a black and blue shirt, becoming a popular figure with the club’s fans.
