Croatian attacking midfielder Ivan Perisic is growing frustrated with his current situation at Borussia Dortmund and is ready to quit the German champions if he does not receive more first team football.

Last season Perisic played 28 times in the Bundesliga, but 20 of those appearances came from the bench. In the current campaign, he has not fared too much better, with eight appearances in the German top flight, but only four starts.

It is a situation Perisic, who can also operate as a pure left winger, is dismayed with.

"All teams are rotating, only I remain on the sidelines", he told Croatian daily Jutarnji List.

"I have to be completely professional, endure another month until the mid-season break and then consider the best situation.

"If not at Borussia, there are other clubs."

Asked whether he could leave Dortmund in the January transfer window, Perisic replied: "Possibly.

"I want to be very patient until December, then have a serious talk with them.

"I don’t know how they think I can improve with this amount of playing time."

The former Club Brugge man also accepts that his situation in Germany could affect his role with the Croatia side, something he can well accept.

"First, I need to look at myself and then the national team. If I am not playing with my club, I am less deserving of a place in the starting eleven of the national team."

Perisic concluded by explaining that he knows who he must discuss his situation with – coach Jurgen Klopp.

"He’s the man, number one in Germany, ahead of all the people. I am a small cog and that’s it."

Perisic joined Dortmund in the summer of 2011 from Club Brugge, penning a five-year contract at the club.

At international level he has been capped 17 times for Croatia, winning his first senior cap in January 2011.
