Real Madrid rejected a bid from English Premier League side Everton for Russian left winger Denis Cheryshev last week, according to Spanish daily Marca.

The Toffees contacted Los Blancos to offer €6M for the 21-year-old, but saw the proposal dismissed out of hand by the Spanish champions.

Cheryshev, a product of Real Madrid’s youth academy, is rated extremely highly at the Bernabeu, with manager Jose Mourinho having tipped him for big things.

The winger is currently turning out for Real Madrid Castilla in the Spanish Segunda Division and has impressed.

Indeed, so highly is Cheryshev though of that Russia recently gave him his first senior international cap.

The Russian made his bow under coach Fabio Capello as Russia played out a 2-2 friendly draw against the United States on 6th November.

It remains to be seen whether Everton will return with a higher offer.

However, with Mourinho having backed Cheryshev for a first team start in the near future, it is unlikely Real Madrid will change their stance.

The Russian has played eleven games in the Segunda Division this season, scoring four goals and creating another four for his team-mates.
