English Premier League side QPR have sacked manager Mark Hughes.

The club are currently sitting bottom of the Premier League standings and have failed to win a game yet this season in the top flight.

Pressure was building on Hughes and now the axe has fallen.

"Queens Park Rangers Football Club has today (Friday) terminated the contract of manager Mark Hughes with immediate effect", the club announced via their official Twitter account.

"Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwiecki will take charge of the Rs’ trip to Manchester United in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday afternoon."

QPR have taken just four points from their 12 Premier League games so far and face a daunting trip to face Manchester United at Old Trafford tomorrow.

The club have now commenced the search for a new manager, with former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp the strong favourite to take over at Loftus Road.

Redknapp has been offered the chance to go into international management as Ukraine manager, but may well decide remaining in the Premier League is preferable.

After playing Manchester United, QPR travel to Sunderland in midweek before hosting Aston Villa.
