Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has enquired about out-of-favour Inter playmaker Wesley Sneijder, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.

Sneijder looks to be set to leave the Nerazzurri in next month’s transfer window after discussions over a possible new contract failed to bear fruit.

Inter want Sneijder to accept a drop in salary to €4M per season from his current €6M level, something the Dutchman is understandably not keen on.

Nerazzurri coach Andrea Stramaccioni has left the 28-year-old out of his side of late too, claiming that he has other players who can do just as good a job as the Holland international.

Where Sneijder will end up remains to be seen, but he is not set to be short of offers.

The creative midfielder has been consistently linked with Manchester United, who are confirmed admirers, while in Russia Anzhi Makhachkala and Zenit St. Petersburg can be counted as fans.

Now it seems PSG could also be in the thick of the race, after Leonardo took soundings over Sneijder.

Inter will be keen to realise a substantial fee for the playmaker, who still has three years left to run on his contract at the San Siro.

Sneijder joined the Nerazzurri in 2009, transferring from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

He has won one Serie A title, two Coppa Italias and one Champions League during his time in Italy.
