Alberto Aquilani is delighted to have chosen to leave Liverpool for Fiorentina during the summer, his agent Franco Zavaglia has revealed.

The Italian midfielder ended a nightmare spell at Anfield by agreeing to move to La Viola from the Merseyside club.

Aquilani had received few chances in England and spent successive seasons back on loan in his homeland with Juventus and AC Milan respectively.

However, neither the Bianconeri nor the Rossoneri were able to agree a permanent deal with the former Roma man.

Now the 28-year-old is flourishing under Vincenzo Montella at Fiorentina, with the side battling in the upper reaches of Serie A.

And Zavaglia has spoken of his client’s happiness.

"He is very happy at Fiorentina, he has found his niche", the player’s agent told Radio Toscana.

"He loves the city and the fans.

"He then thought carefully before he signed a contract for three years."

Aquilani missed the start of the current campaign due to injury, but has so far made nine appearances in Serie A, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
