Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis does not want to exit the French giants in next month’s transfer window.

Gomis has been linked with being sold by Les Gones, who are still looking to bring in money from player transfers to address financial concerns.

And while Gomis accepts that in football sometimes the unexpected can happen, he is hoping to at least finish the season at the Stade Gerland.

"I want to finish the season here and do even better than last year", explained the 27-year-old to RTL.

"You never know what can happen in football and we all realise that there are players who may have to leave", he continued.

"I am happy here and I want to finish the season here.

"Of course it is true that there are certain leagues that I like and eventually I’d like to try, but today I’m not thinking about it. I’m not troubling myself with the idea of leaving."

Gomis has been one of Lyon’s big success stories this season, helping Remi Garde’s men to the top of the Ligue 1 standings by firing home ten goals in 16 league games, accounting for almost a third of the side’s strikes.

Lyon currently sit five points clear of second-placed Paris Saint-Germain.

And Les Gones may well conclude that they have a better chance of winning the title with Gomis than without.
