Liverpool are the latest club to have joined the chase for highly-rated Valencia midfielder Sofiane Feghouli, according to Valencian-based daily Super Deporte.

The 22-year-old has shone for Los Che during the current campaign, even with the side punching below their weight in La Liga and parting company with former Liverpool defender Mauricio Pellegrino, who had been appointed successor to Unai Emery in the summer, earlier this season.

Feghouli has developed a reputation as a hard working midfielder, able to impose himself on games and push forward to aid his side’s attacks.

The Algeria international, who was snapped up by Valencia in 2010 from French outfit Grenoble, has firmly established himself as a key man in the club’s engine room and his fine performances have not gone unnoticed.

Liverpool are not the only English side to have been linked with Feghouli.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have also been mooted as admirers.

Valencia would like to keep hold of the midfielder, but will need to make him a tempting new contract offer to see off interest from England.

Feghouli’s current deal at the Mestalla expires in 2014 and the Algerian will be looking for a substantial rise.

It remains to be seen however just how Valencia might react to a large bid landing on their doorstep.
