Liverpool are tracking highly-rated young Valenciennes defender Nicolas Isimat-Mirin, according to Calcio Mercato.
The 21-year-old is thought to have impressed Reds scouts with his accomplished performances for Daniel Sanchez’s men this season as Valenciennes have enjoyed a superb first half of the season in France’s Ligue 1.
A centre back by trade, Isimat-Mirin has played in all 17 of Valenciennes’ league games in the current campaign and helped the club to a position of tenth in the standings, far above the relegation battle the team were tipped to be involved in.
On the international stage, the defender has graduated from France’s Under-20s to the country’s Under-21s and made his last appearances for Les Bleus against Italy’s Under-21s.

Valenciennes will surely be loathe to lose Isimat-Mirin in mid-season, as they set their sights on an unlikely push for a European spot.
The stopper is a graduate of France’s esteemed Clairefontaine academy, having also spent time in the youth ranks at Rennes before breaking through at Valenciennes.
Isimat-Mirin is under contract with his Ligue 1 club until 2015.
He has Haitian roots.
