Midfielder Joey Barton has hit out at those people who believe the world could end at some point later today.
The 21st of December has been mentioned in ancient Mayan predictions and there are groups of people who think the end of the world is upon us.
Barton, who is currently on loan at French side Marseille from English Premier League outfit QPR, feels that people who believe everything is about to end should be put to sleep.
"Anyone who placed a bet on the World ending tomorrow, should be taken to a hospital and put down… #idiots", he announced via his Twitter account.

Were the end of the world to arrive today it would cut short Barton’s loan spell at Marseille.
For the Englishman it would surely be a source of great annoyance, given how he is loving life on the French south coast.
It would though resolve the question of whether Barton will make his move to Marseille from QPR permanent.
