Russian Premier League club Spartak Moscow are ready to rival AC Milan for the signature of Mohamed Sissoko, with the player’s representative confirming the interest of Valery Karpin’s men.

Milan have identified Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Sissoko as a potential acquisition in the January transfer window as they seek to replace Nigel de Jong, who will miss the rest of the season through injury.

Contact has already been established between Milan and PSG over a deal for Sissoko, but the Rossoneri will not have things all their own way.

"We have had contact with Spartak Moscow, who have long been watching my client", agent Jose Segou told Russian daily Izvestia.

"If the Russian club make PSG and offer then we can enter into a more active phase of negotiations", he added.

The Mali international is currently out of favour at the Parc des Princes and Segou admits Sissoko does want more playing time.

"Sissoko wants to spend more time on the pitch", he said, confirming his client could indeed move.

"In the winter he may well change teams."

Sissoko joined PSG in the summer of 2011 from Italian outfit Juventus.

He has though slipped well down the pecking order in the French capital and PSG look ready to sell for the right price.
