The father of Lucas Moura believes his son made the right choice in deciding to sign for Paris Saint-Germain ahead of Manchester United.

The 20-year-old midfielder was the subject of a transfer tug-of-war between Manchester United and PSG over the summer, which was ultimately won by the wealthy French side, with a bid of around €40M being accepted by Sao Paulo and allowing Moura to head to France.

Equally crucial though was Moura’s choice himself and, after great thought, he came to the conclusion PSG was the better move, as he explained recently, drilling down into the reasons why he preferred landing at the Parc des Prince than switching to Old Trafford.

And the player’s father, Jorge Moura, has backed his son’s decision, explaining just why he believes that the right choice has been made.

"This is a well considered choice", Moura senior told Le Parisien.

"The challenge and the proposal were very interesting.

"He will discover another lifestyle, another culture, another type of football.

"It will be very beneficial for his progression and his personal development."

Jorge Moura also spoke about how he feels his son can strike up a deadly partnership at PSG with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

"Lucas can play everywhere, even if he prefers to play on the right side.

"I am sure he will have fun with Zlatan.

"Zlatan’s power and the speed of Lucas, it will do damage! They will form a superb duo."

As part of PSG’s deal with Sao Paulo, Lucas Moura was allowed to finish the 2012 season in Brazil. He is due to officially join PSG at the start of next month.
