Wesley Sneijder has admitted it is best if he leaves Inter during next month's transfer window.

The Dutch playmaker has been frozen out at current club Inter after refusing to sign a new contract which would see his salary drop from €6M to €4M per year.

Understandably, with a contract running until 2015, Sneijder has been unwilling to put pen to paper and as a result has made just five Serie A appearances this season, with coach Andrea Stramaccioni claiming he has options of equal quality to the former Real Madrid man.

Sneijder was even allowed to head off for his Christmas break early.

It seems clear he must move sooner rather than later and he has been linked with a whole host of clubs, from Tottenham Hotspur to Manchester United and from Anzhi Makhachkala to Zenit St. Petersburg.

And Sneijder understands his current situation is no good for Inter or himself.

"It is clear for all parties that it is best that I have a beautiful transfer this winter", he told Dutch daily De Telegraaf, before hinting he will not be pushed just anywhere.

"Otherwise? Then I have a contract after this season until the middle of 2015 with Inter", he said.

It remains to be seen where Sneijder will end up, but the odds are heavily stacked in favour of a January departure from the Nerazzurri.
