Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur Target Wesley Sneijder Prepared To Hang On For Premier League Switch

Thursday, 10th January, 2013

Wesley Sneijder has put any move to Galatasaray on the backburner as he holds out for a switch to the English Premier League, according to Dutch daily De Telegraaf.

Inter announced yesterday that they have accepted a €10M bid for Sneijder from Galatasaray and the Turkish side have put a lucrative proposal in front of the Holland international.

Galatasaray will match Sneijder’s current salary of €6M per year, which Inter were seeking to cut to €4M in a new contract, while they are also ready to speak to the Dutchman about adding on housing, cars, regular flights to Holland and other various bonuses.

And with Inter accepting the bid, the ball is now in Sneijder’s court.

But he will make them wait.

The midfielder’s priority remains to move to the English Premier League, where there has been much talk of interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool; so much so that Sneijder was forced to comment on reports of a switch to White Hart Lane and to Anfield.

Now Sneijder is prepared to wait until late in the transfer window to see if the opportunity to move to England arises – and it is one he is keen to take.

Having already knocked back an enquiry from Galatasaray’s rivals Fenerbahce, Sneijder does not appear delighted with the chance to land at the Turk Telekom Arena – but he may be left with that or staying at Inter.
