Fiorentina Join Serie A Admiration For Chelsea Midfielder Frank Lampard

Friday, 11th January, 2013

Another Serie A side hold an interest in Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard, taking the total number of potential destinations for the 34-year-old to three.

Lampard is expected to end his long association with Chelsea at the end of the season, when his current contract at Stamford Bridge expires.

Despite a spell of fine form and the affection of the club’s fans, Lampard has not been offered an extended deal.

He has been linked with a number of clubs and is sure to have many options though.

Within Italy, Lazio are keen, while Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo suggested he would welcome him to Turin with open arms.

Now, according to Calcio Mercato, Vincenzo Montella’s Fiorentina are pondering making a move for Lampard.

La Viola have enjoyed a good season so far in Serie A and are in the running for a Champions League spot next season.

That could be tempting for Lampard, as well as handing Fiorentina the extra financial firepower to make the England international a well-paid offer.

There are though sure to be plenty more twists and turns in the race for Lampard before the season is out.
