Everton have made snapping up Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capua their most important transfer priority.

According to French sports daily L’Equipe, the Toffees are desperate to recruit the 24-year-old, who is seen as a player perfectly suited to Premier League football.

Toulouse are keen to keep hold of the France international at least until the end of the season though, especially as fellow midfielder Moussa Sissoko may depart this month.

But their desire could be severely tested if Everton slap a substantial bid on the table.

The Merseyside giants are thought to be willing to pay around the €10M mark for Capua, a figure that would give Toulouse pause for thought.

The 24-year-old has played in 18 of Toulouse’s 20 Ligue 1 games so far this season.

He is extremely highly rated by coach Alain Casanova and is under contract with the French side until 2015.
