New Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has made the recruitment of Malaga star Isco his summer priority, but will have to battle Chelsea for the player’s signature, according to Spanish daily El Mundo Deportivo.

Isco has shone brightly for Malaga so far this season and helped Manuel Pellegrini’s men through to the Round of 16 in the Champions League, despite financial troubles looking likely to derail their season.

The attack-minded midfielder’s qualities have brought him to the attention of a number of clubs and former Barcelona coach Guardiola, who has agreed to take over at Bayern Munich in the summer, wants his new side to sign the 20-year-old.

Bayern Munich will not be alone in pushing for Isco though.

He is also wanted by Chelsea, who are well aware of the starlet’s talents.

And so a big money battle between Bayern Munich and Chelsea could well break out.

Guardiola will hope the Spaniard sees his future under his wing at the Allianz Arena, rather than at Stamford Bridge.

Isco is under contract with Malaga until 2016.
