Newcastle United have had a bid of €3M for full-back Massadio Haidara accepted by the player’s club Nancy.

The French side’s president Jacques Rousselot told beINSport that Nancy have opted to sell the 20-year-old to the Magpies, with Haidara now expected to complete a switch to St. James’ Park.

Newcastle had initially offered €2.5M for the defender, while Nancy wanted a figure closer to €5M. Now though a compromise has been reached with €3M due to be paid.

Haidara has also been linked with several Italian sides, but it is Newcastle who look set to win the race for his signature.

The full-back has made 46 Ligue 1 appearances for Nancy in his career and leaves a side sitting bottom of the French top flight.

Haidara will leave one relegation battle for another however, with Newcastle sitting only two points above the drop zone in the Premier League, following a real slump in form after their heroics last season.
