Manchester United are loaning striker Federico Macheda to Spanish side Elche.

According to France Football, Sir Alex Ferguson’s men have agreed to let the Italian hitman move to Spain, where he will turn out for Elche.

Fran Escriba’s side are currently leading the way in the Spanish second division, with a comfortable eleven-point lead over second-placed Almeria.

Elche will hope that Macheda can help to secure the club promotion to La Liga and provide further competition for places.

Macheda is currently well down the striking pecking order at Old Trafford.

The Italian has spent time on loan before, joining Sampdoria in his homeland and QPR in England.

For Macheda, playing regular first team football is the aim, and Elche can provide a solid platform in the Spanish second tier.
