Nottingham Forest are keen on former Liverpool winger Nabil El Zhar, according to Spanish daily AS.

El Zhar never quite made the breakthrough at Anfield, having joined Liverpool in 2006, and left the club initially for a loan spell in Greece with PAOK Salonika in 2010.

The Moroccan wide-man quit Liverpool permanently in 2011, when he signed for Spanish outfit Levante.

At the Valencian club, El Zhar has progressed and flourished, with 20 appearances for the side in La Liga so far this season.

And the 26-year-old has emerged as a target for Championship club Nottingham Forest.

The Midlands side currently sit tenth in the Championship table, but are only six points off a playoff spot.

It is not clear whether El Zhar would be willing to swap Levante for Forest, but the Moroccan may feel he has unfinished business in English football.
