Lille are keen to push through a swoop for highly-rated Valenciennes defender Nicolas Isimat-Mirin, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.
The 21-year-old has been in fine form for Daniel Sanchez’s men so far this season and has attracted a great many suitors.
There is interest in England, where Liverpool are keen, while Newcastle are also believed to be watching developments closely.
Now Lille are hoping to jump ahead of the Premier League sides.
The 2011 Ligue 1 champions are prepared to pay Valenciennes a fee of €2.5M for Isimat-Mirin, with the tempting proposal to loan him straight back to Valenciennes to finish the season at the club also thrown in.
It remains to be seen whether Valenciennes will be open to doing the deal.
The Ligue 1 outfit may feel they can realise a greater fee by selling the defender abroad, if there is a firming up of interest from England.
Isimat-Mirin has played 21 games for Valenciennes in Ligue 1 this season.
