The agent of Lazio defender Modibo Diakite admits that Liverpool are his client’s first choice when his contract with the Rome giants runs out during the summer.
Liverpool have been consistently linked with the powerful Frenchman and that talk has only increased given that Diakite has been unable to agree a new deal with Lazio.
The 25-year-old had been tipped to make an exit this month, with other clubs also showing an interest in snapping him up too.
But as the clock ticks down on the transfer window, it does appear Diakite will be completing his contract at Lazio, leaving the ball very much in the player’s court when it comes to deciding his next move.

And Liverpool are his preferred option, explained the player’s representative Ulisse Savini to Sky Italia.
"Liverpool is our first choice in June, but there is no hurry", he said.
"We will look at things during the next few days, but it would be hard to say no to a club like that."
There may yet be offers for Diakite from Russia, where the transfer window does not close until next month.
However, at present Liverpool look the defender’s most likely destination.
