Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen feels that the Reds can get a result against Manchester City on Sunday.

Allen takes much encouragement from the 2-2 draw played out between the two at Anfield during the early weeks of the season and, having just drawn 2-2 away at Arsenal, the Welshman is full of confidence.

Even if he accepts it is going to be very difficult at the Etihad Stadium.

"Most people would agree that we deserved to win that game", he said to his club’s official site, looking back to the earlier clash between the two teams.

"We didn’t quite have that bit of luck that sometimes you need to see games like that through."

And Allen insists that Liverpool will go into the game with real confidence.

"They’re the champions of last season and their record at the Etihad is pretty incredible", he said.

"It’s an exciting game, though, and one that we’ll go into with confidence again – as we have to be and always are – that we can get the result we’re after."

For Liverpool, coming away from the Etihad Stadium with something would be a vital boost in their bid to finish in the top four this season.

Manchester City meanwhile cannot afford to lose any more ground on league leaders Manchester United.
