New Aston Villa signing Simon Dawkins is relishing the chance to take on West Ham at Villa Park on Sunday.
The Premier League relegation battlers snapped up the 25-year-old on loan until the end of the season from Tottenham Hotspur on transfer deadline day, as they bid to boost their squad for the fight ahead.
Dawkins clocked up his most impressive spell with a loan stint in the MLS, turning out for San Jose Earthquakes – and now he is hoping to make his mark back in the Premier League.
And he is sure that the Aston Villa fans will be supportive, despite their side’s predicament.
"I can’t wait for Sunday. It will be amazing", he told his club’s official site.
"I am really eager to get out there and sample the atmosphere at Villa Park. I have been thinking about it since I signed the contract. I am really excited about it.
"The Villa Park atmosphere is supposed to be amazing. But that’s not a surprise because it’s a huge club with loyal fans. I am really looking forward to be in and amongst it this weekend."
The visitors to Villa Park on Sunday are West Ham, who themselves do not yet feel completely clear of relegation trouble and are desperate to stack up the points.
For Aston Villa, coming off the back of a 3-3 draw at Everton, the clash is crucial.
