Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez has stressed that he is not rotating strikers Fernando Torres and Demba Ba because he wants to, but instead because he feels he has to.

There have been calls for the Spaniard and the Senegalese to partner each other up front in the Blues attack, but Benitez has frequently preferred to play only one at time.

And the former Liverpool manager feels that, for a number of reasons, this is something that he simply must do.

"I am not rotating because I want to do this", he told a press conference via his club’s feed, "we have to do it.

"We have to manage both in every game. Demba Ba cannot play in the Europa League.

"If we can play both sometimes, we will do it, but with the players in behind, it is difficult."

Benitez also has to shoehorn the talents of attacking midfielders Oscar, Eden Hazard and Juan Mata into his team, while taking notice of the defensive balance.

The Blues are looking to bounce back from last weekend’s 3-2 defeat away at Newcastle tomorrow, when they welcome Wigan to Stamford Bridge.

It is a game they will be expected to win as they bid to secure a top four spot this season.
