Didier Drogba has revealed that he spoke to Jose Mourinho before signing for Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Drogba arrived in Istanbul yesterday, joining up with the club at which he has penned an 18-month contract.

The Ivorian follows Wesley Sneijder to the Turk Telekom Arena as Galatasaray bid to put together a side which can win this season’s Champions League; the Turkish champions face Schalke in the Round of 16.

And the striker did his research before agreeing to join coach Fatih Terim’s men, even speaking with his former boss at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho.

"Before I signed, I spoke quite a bit with Emmanuel Eboue, but I also talked with Mourinho", Drogba told reporters.

"Me being here with Sneijder is a message to other big clubs", he continued.

"I want to win the Champions League."

Drogba, who has just returned from competing in the African Cup of Nations for the Ivory Coast, also confirmed that he feels fit and does not expect there to be too long a wait before he is ready to pull on a Galatasaray shirt.
