Former Bayern Munich star Lothar Matthaus insists that he has been told his old club will be signing Robert Lewandowski from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Speculation over a possible move for Lewandowski from Dortmund to the Allianz Arena has been building in recent weeks and, for Matthaus, it is all but done.

Indeed, the ex-Germany international claims the only thing yet to be settled is the date on which the transfer will take place.

"I have heard that Lewandowski has agreed with Bayern, or the management of Lewandowski have", Matthaus was quoted as saying by German daily Bild.

"Only the date is to be determined.

"His contract with Dortmund runs until 2014, in 2013 they can still get a high transfer fee.

"I heard it will be about €25M to €30M."

It remains to be seen if what Matthaus believes actually happens, with Dortmund having been consistent in their desire to keep hold of Lewandowski.

Bayern Munich also have a whole host of talented strikers and are powering their way towards this season’s Bundesliga title.

Other clubs have been mooted as being keen on Lewandowski too, including English giants Manchester United.
