Thibaut Courtois believes that Chelsea intend to keep Petr Cech as their number 1 goalkeeper for another two years.
The Belgian shot-stopper is currently on loan from Chelsea with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and has been earmarked to replace Cech between the sticks at Stamford Bridge when the time comes for a changing of the guard.
It is Courtois second successive season at the Vicente Calderon and he has hugely impressed in Spain, so much so that the Belgian himself even feels that the speed of his progression has shocked the powers that be at Chelsea.
"I’ve progressed quickly", he told Belgian broadcaster RTBF.
"And I think that Chelsea did not expect that I would have reached this level; not so quickly anyway."
And the former Genk man feels that current Blues first choice Cech probably has another two years of being the club’s starting goalkeeper, by which time the road could have opened up for himself.
"I think they will still rely on Petr Cech for two years", he said.
"He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world."
