Chelsea hitman Demba Ba believes that he may well not be suited to playing in France’s Ligue 1.

Ba left Newcastle to join the Blues during last month’s transfer window, despite having been linked with big spending French outfit Paris Saint-Germain.

Newcastle then proceeded to raid Ligue 1 for a whole host of players, so much so that had Ba stayed, it could have even been as if he were playing in the French top flight.

And the Senegal international has taken the hint that he may not be made for Ligue 1.

"There are eleven Frenchmen [at Newcastle]", he told French radio station RMC.

"I’ve never played in Ligue 1 and when I left Newcastle, it is as if Ligue 1 went to Newcastle.

"So I am not really made to play in Ligue 1."

Ba has been warmly welcomed at Stamford Bridge and at a cost of just £7M is widely seen as a bargain for Chelsea.

So far this season the 27-year-old has scored 14 goals in 25 Premier League games. He has also found the back of the net twice in the FA Cup.

Ba’s contract with Chelsea runs until 2016.
