Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero has signaled his commitment to Sydney FC, signing on for another year.
The 37-year-old forward joined the Australian A-League outfit last year after ending a long association with Serie A giants Juventus.
He had an instant impact in Australia, scoring eleven goals in 18 A-League games.
Recently though Del Piero has been linked with clubs in Brazil and an exit from Sydney.
But he intends to stay put.
"I took a lot of time to agree to another season. It was a big challenge for me and my family to come here, I changed everything in our life", he told a press conference.
"That’s why I needed to understand what is good and what is not. For sure it’s good here, and the relationship with the club [is good]."
The news is welcome for Australian football and Sydney FC, with Del Piero having raised the profile of the A-League.
