Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti has moved to quash speculation that he has agreed to take over at Real Madrid for next season.

French daily Le Parisien recently reported that Ancelotti has a verbal agreement with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to succeed Jose Mourinho at the Bernabeu in the summer.

Ancelotti’s contract at the Parc des Princes expires this summer but it does contain a clause which will automatically extend if for a further year if PSG finish in the top three in Ligue 1, which seems almost certain.

And the Italian has moved to put down talk of moving to Real Madrid.

Questioned about the Le Parisien story, Ancelotti simply replied at a press conference: "It is not true."

His words are unlikely to dampen the speculation however, with Mourinho under serious pressure in Spain.

And there remains the possibility that the two men could swap jobs for next season.
