Gareth Bale Would Command Spot In Any Side Admits Chelsea Boss Rafael Benitez

Tuesday, 26th February, 2013

Rafael Benitez has admitted that Gareth Bale’s progression has made him a player that any manager would like to have in their side.

Bale scored twice in Tottenham’s 3-2 win over West Ham last night, taking his tally in the Premier League for the season to 15 and also helping Spurs to move above Chelsea to third in the standings.

The Welshman is being lavished with praise from all angles and Benitez was asked whether Bale is now so good that any manager would want him in their team.

"Yes, he is a very good player, no doubt about that", the Spaniard told a press conference, via his club’s official feed.

Reflecting upon the Welshman’s stunning goal to win the game against West Ham for Spurs, which arrived in the 90th minute, Benitez said: "Great goal. He is on fire. He is doing really well.

"He was a key player yesterday and he has been a key player in recent weeks."

The Chelsea boss also revealed that he expects the battle for a top four spot in the Premier League to go to the wire.

"The competition for the top four will be until the end", he said.

Chelsea are next in action tomorrow when they visit Middlesbrough for an FA Cup Fifth Round tie.
