Barcelona are stepping up their wooing of Toulouse defender Aymen Abdennour, his agent has revealed.

The Tunisia international has long interested Barcelona, while he can also count English Premier League giants Arsenal as amongst his suitors.

Both clubs have been regularly monitoring Abdennour’s progress at Toulouse and now Barcelona are rolling out the red carpet for the 23-year-old by inviting him to attend the forthcoming Champions League Round of 16 second leg at the Camp Nou between the Catalan giants and AC Milan.

"FC Barcelona have invited us to attend the Barcelona-AC Milan Champions League meeting", Abdennour’s agent Abdelkader Jilani told Tunisian radio station Shems FM.

"This is purely a friendly invitation and it does not mean that we will sign", he added.

Jilani also confirmed Barcelona’s long-term admiration of his client.

"Since last year, and to rejuvenate their defence, Barcelona have followed Abdennour.

"Toulouse is close to Barcelona, so scouts often come from Barcelona to the stadium and have become familiar with Abdennour.

"The future for Abdennour will be at a big European club, either Barcelona or another big club."

So far this season Abdennour has made 19 appearances in Ligue 1 for Alain Casanova’s men.

He also went to the African Cup of Nations in South Africa, featuring in three games at the tournament.
