Valencia left-back Aly Cissokho admits he has heard his name mentioned in connection with English Premier League giants Liverpool, but has revealed he is a boyhood Manchester United fan.

The flying French full-back has been mooted as a summer transfer target for Liverpool and he has been linked with English sides on several occasions in the past, coming very close to making the move to the Premier League.

Cissokho admits he has made no secret of his desire to play in England and joining Liverpool would be flattering as it would be a privilege, but it would also put him face to face with Manchester United.

"I’ve never made any secret of the fact that the English league is the one that attracts me the most", the 25-year-old told French daily Le Parisien, while not getting carried away.

"It is satisfying to be linked with Liverpool.

"It’s a big club and not everyone gets the chance to wear their shirt. But it’s still just a newspaper story.

"When I was little, I was a Manchester United fan and a David Beckham fan."

Cissokho could come up against Beckham this evening when PSG take on Valencia in the second leg of their Round of 16 Champions League tie at the Parc des Princes.

And to potentially come up against him would be "strange", the Frenchman concedes.
