Ex-Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld, who is now in charge of Switzerland, has advised Arjen Robben to leave the Bavarians in the summer, warning that he will not fit into the way incoming coach Pep Guardiola wants to play the game.
Robben has been in and out of the Bayern Munich side this season, with injuries playing their part, and is unhappy at the amount of first team starts he has been handed.
Hitzfeld does not see the Dutch winger’s situation improving once Guardiola succeeds current coach Jupp Heynckes and thinks the exit door might be a good choice for the former Real Madrid man to head to.
"I think Robben will leave Bayern in the summer", Hitzfeld told Swiss daily Sontags Blick.
"Robben does not fit into the philosophy of Guardiola", he continued.
"A player like Xherdan Shaqiri, who now often sits on the bench, is much more suitable for that. He keeps going and is a good passer.
"For Robben, it might be better to leave."
Robben only penned a new contract with the Bavarians last year, running until 2015.
