Liverpool defender Daniel Agger believes that manager Brendan Rodgers is capable of leading the Merseyside giants to silverware, but it could require patience.

Rodgers was recruited from Swansea at the beginning of the 2012/13 season after Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group sacked Kenny Dalglish at the end of last season. The Northern Irishman has introduced a new possesion-based style of play for the team and has led them to seventh place so far, nine points adrift of the top four.

"[Rodgers] has introduced a new style of play this year", Agger told Danish daily BT. "With it we are playing well, despite not getting the results we would’ve wanted.

"It may not be this year", Agger noted about securing trophies this season, "But throughout the year the team has played well."

The Danish defender also credits his manager for his good fitness this season. Agger has been hit with various injuries in the past seasons, but is playing in the current campaign without one, and the Dane is delighted by this.

"Rodgers is undoubtedly the reason why I have played all my matches [for Liverpool] without injuries this year", Agger said.

The stopper revealed a specific personal routine for him made by Rodgers himself to help him avoid getting knocks. "What the new coach has come up with is personalizing the exercise routines for each player, and this has certainly helped me this season."

Agger will be travelling with the rest of the Danish squad as they face Czech Republic away and Bulgaria at home in the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
