Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny admits his playing form has dipped in the recent months, but is adamant he did not accept his call-up to the Poland squad just to warm the bench.

Szczesny has experienced a drop in his game ever since returning to action from his malleolar injury in mid-November. The Polish keeper has conceded 22 goals in just 19 matches for the Gunners and has kept only eight clean sheets.

"Since February, my form has changed", Szczesny was quoted as saying to Przeglad Sportowy.

The Arsenal goalkeeper added that his Southampton counterpart and compatriot Artur Boruc has seen better form. "Artur is in better shape", Szczesny admitted.

Szczesny now fears that his place in head coach Waldemar Fornalik’s starting team may be in jeorpardy but insists he can still play. "It isn’t decided yet who is first choice [goalkeeper], but I did not come to the Polish team to be a reserve", Szczesny said.

Poland are due to face Ukraine at home tonight before they host San Marino four days later in a double header in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
