Barcelona are close to finally completing a deal for the Brazilian star sensation Neymar, according to Spanish daily El Mundo Deportivo.

Neymar has been in great form for Santos, scoring a grand total of 34 goals in 33 matches for the club in all competitions last season. And he has continued that form this year, scoring six goals in just nine appearances domestically.

And the Blaugrana are keen to bring the prolific talent to Camp Nou next season, with Barcelona director Raul Sanllehi now in direct communication with Neymar, his father, and his trusted agent Andre Curi.

In fact, Sanllehi personally went to Geneva to discuss details about the transfer with Neymar. The Santos man featured in Brazil’s friendly against Italy, which was held in the Swiss city.

Barcelona are also wary of Manchester City’s actions as the English-based club’s Txiki Berigistain is also making moves on Neymar.

Berigistain, together with former Barcelona president Joan Laporta, were reportedly in contact with Neymar and his agent when Brazil traveled to England last February. Neymar featured in Selecao’s friendly against Roy Hodgson’s side.

Recently, Neymar disputed claims that Barcelona have a pre-transfer agreement with him, adding that he is committed to Santos at least until his contract ends in 2014.
