Paris Saint-Germain defender Alex has advised his team-mate Thiago Silva to "take care" of Lionel Messi when Barcelona travel to the Parc des Princes tomorrow.

The two clubs lock horns in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday evening, with the French giants knowing they must surely try to take some sort of lead to the Camp Nou for the second leg.

Messi is clearly a danger man and Alex revealed that he has had thoughts about how the Argentine can be stopped – and Brazilian defender Thiago Silva will have a key role in doing just that.

"It is more the responsibility of the midfielders. Always keep at least one or two players around Leo", he told Canal +.

"I think Blaise Matuidi is more likely to mark him.

"We must be very careful because when he moves with the ball he is very dangerous. It is hard to tackle him when the ball is stuck to his feet. So we may have to wait a while to attempt a tackle.

"I prefer to mark a player of my size. So I would say to Thiago Silva to stay on the left side to take care of him."

PSG have been tight at the back this season, conceding the fewest goals of any side in Ligue 1, with only 20 against from their 30 league games so far.
