Former Denmark international forward Flemming Povlsen has revealed that he recommended FC Nordsjaelland defender Jores Okore to one of his old clubs, in the shape of Borussia Dortmund, but they rejected the centre-back on the grounds that he is too small to play in the heart of their defence.

Okore has attracted interest from a great many clubs due to his fine performances for Nordsjaelland, with the Denmark star acquitting himself well in this season’s Champions League.

The defender has been linked with Manchester United, something he finds "flattering", and Red Devils legend Peter Schmeichel has recommended the Nordsjaelland star to Sir Alex Ferguson.

Povlsen has also been recommending Okore however, in his case to Dortmund, though the Germans have been unmoved.

"The only thing they asked about was how tall he is", Povlsen told News.

"’He is 1.83′, I replied.

"’Well, then he can’t come and play down here. We only have players of 1.86 in central defence’ was the reply.

"So they know what they are after.

"In this situation though I find it a bit exaggerated."

Okore will not be short of suitors despite Dortmund’s snub however, with the 20-year-old now firmly established in the Denmark national team, while he continues to shine at Nordsjaelland.
