Former Arsenal and Inter midfielder Patrick Vieira believes that Juventus have bagged a real gem in Paul Pogba, explaining that the 20-year-old is better than he was at the same age.

Pogba joined the Bianconeri last summer after turning down a contract extension with Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United – at the same age, Vieira had just joined Arsenal from AC Milan.

The Frenchman has wasted little time in making an impression on Italian football, seeing praise sent in his direction from all quarters, while there has also been international recognition from Les Bleus coach Didier Deschamps.

Pogba is living up to his potential – and Vieira, who now works as a football development executive at Manchester City, is firmly under his spell, having been taken by his France bow against Georgia and then appearance against Spain.

"He was amazing, was incredibly at ease", Vieira told French radio station RMC.

"He is the next great midfielder of the France team.

"He is very strong technically, physically and scores more goals than I did.

"At his age I played five games in this year [in my career]. He is better than I was at his age. He will learn very quickly."
