Liverpool are keen on Saint-Etienne defender Kurt Zouma and could launch a swoop to snap up the 18-year-old in the summer.

Zouma’s talents are well known to English clubs, with Chelsea and Manchester United having scouted the centre-back this season, while QPR were ready to move for the Saint-Etienne man last summer, before opting for more experienced options to bolster their backline.

Now, according to Le 10 Sport, Liverpool are Zouma’s latest suitors, as the Reds seek to bring in up three defenders during the summer transfer window.

The English giants will see veteran stopper Jamie Carragher retire at the end of the season, while Uruguayan defender Sebastian Coates could be loaned out and Slovakian defender Martin Skrtel has been linked with pastures new.

Zouma would undoubtedly be a purchase for the future – but one with a definite sense of potential.

The 18-year-old has made 12 appearances in Ligue 1 for Saint-Etienne so far this season.

And in a sign of how highly Les Verts rate Zouma, he is tied to a contract running until 2017 at the club.
