Young Vitoria Guimaraes striker Amido Balde has denied knowing anything about interest from English Premier League sides Newcastle United and Everton.

The 21-year-old joined Vitoria last summer, penning a two-year deal following his release from fellow Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon.

Balde’s career has taken off at the Estadio do Bonfim, with regular first team football in the Portuguese game being translated into goals, six in 18 league games so far.

The Guinea-Bissau-born goal-getter has seen his name linked with both Newcastle and Everton, in what would represent a real step up.

It is though news to him.

"I am not aware of the interest of other clubs in me", said Balde to Portuguese daily O Jogo when questioned.

The striker is under contract at Vitoria until 2014.

He has spent time on loan at a number of clubs, including Santa Clara, Badajoz and Cercle Brugge.
