Bayern Munich have activated the release clause of Borussia Dortmund starlet Mario Gotze, according to German daily Bild.

The Bavarians are believed to have pounced with an offer of €37M, activating a release clause in the Germany international’s contract and leaving Dortmund powerless to prevent the attacking midfielder’s departure.

And Gotze is reported to have already agreed a contract with Bayern Munich, which will see his yearly salary skyrocket to €7M per year at the Allianz Arena.

Gotze is a man in demand, with English Premier League duo Arsenal and Manchester City exploring whether they could snap him up this summer.

But it appears the pair have been beaten to Gotze’s signature by Bayern Munich, who are determined to continue with their policy of hoovering up the most talented players in the Bundesliga, and will now place the 20-year-old at the disposal of incoming coach Pep Guardiola.

Bayern Munich have already won this season’s Bundesliga, clinching it in style and dethroning Dortmund in the process, with ruthless efficiency.

The Bavarians are currently chasing a treble, with the German Cup and Champions League, where they face Barcelona in the semi-finals, also on the club’s agenda.

Gotze has made 28 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s men this season in the Bundesliga, scoring ten goals and providing 12 assists.

His contract at Dortmund had been due to run until 2016.
