Monday, 22nd April, 2013

Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has reignited the best player in the world debate between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, and has given the Portuguese talisman an edge over the Argentine.

The two highly-rated footballers will be in action for their respective clubs in the Champions League semi-finals, starting this week. And looking forward to the competition, the former Portugal boss has rated Ronaldo as “more fantastic”.

“Messi is fantastic, but Cristiano is more fantastic”, the 64-year-old told Portuguese daily A Bola.

“At Real Madrid, the impression I have is that the other stars feel uncomfortable with the star that is Cristiano, whereas at Barcelona, the other stars do not bother with Messi.

“However, Cristiano does everything that Messi does.”

The two talismen have been the objects of debate for a long time, with fans and critics still fiercely discussing who should be considered the best player in the world.

The Barcelona forward has 57 goals so far this season from 46 club appearances, wwhile the Real Madrid forward has 50 goals from 49 club appearances.
