Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller has admitted that he believes the club’s coach Sami Hyypia is destined to take charge of Liverpool in the future.

Hyypia has been doing a sterling job in the BayArena dugout and is on the verge of guiding Leverkusen into next season’s Champions League.

Hyypia’s men currently boast 53 points from 30 games, sitting third in the Bundesliga, seven points ahead of fourth-placed Schalke and eight in front of fifth-placed Freiburg.

The Finn has been roundly praised for his coaching stint, but Voller fears losing the 39-year-old to Liverpool at some point.

"Sami has all the ingredients to become a great coach", Voller was quoted as telling Sky.

"The only problem is that at some point he will go to Liverpool.

"This is his dream."

Hyypia remains a popular figure at Anfield, where he turned out for a decade between 1999 and 2009.

In his time with Liverpool, Hyypia won one Champions League, one UEFA Cup, two FA Cups and two League Cups.
