Norwich City defender Sebastien Bassong has explained that the Canaries are focused on themselves, and no one else, ahead of their clash against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Norwich are currently 14th in the Premier League table, with 38 points – one ahead of the Villans. The Canaries have three games remaining this season and the Cameroon international anticipates a tough clash at Carrow Road.

"It’s going to be a tough game for both teams because both need the win”, the 26-year-old told a press conference, via his club’s feed.

"We’re not really focused on them – we’re focused on ourselves. That’s what we have to do."

Aston Villa are riding high after their 6-1 rout of Sunderland at Villa Park on Monday. However, the former Tottenham centre-back believes that Norwich have worked hard this season, and there should not be much of a problem facing Paul Lambert’s men.

“We’ve been working our socks off all season. Hopefully everything’s going to be alright.

"It’s a home game for us so it’s going to be good to watch and good to play in”, he added.

The Canaries are currently six points clear of the relegation zone. They have two more home fixtures, and an away fixture against Manchester City, to come.
