Ligue 1 side Marseille are keen on keeping their trusty defender Nicolas N’Koulou this summer, by slapping a hefty €20M price tag on his head, according to Le 10 Sport.

The Cameroonian centre-back has earned his spot in Elie Baup’s line-up this season, appearing in 44 matches for the club in all competitions. The 23-year-old has not missed a single league match and has played the full 90 minutes in each, apart from the side’s clash against Nice on 31st March, when he was substituted in the 74th minute.

The defender’s potential and consistency has seen him linked with a number of clubs, including English Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool, who are firmly in the N’Koulou fan club.

But Marseille have every intention of holding onto their star centre-back, and in a manoeuvre that will surely keep suitors at bay, the club have decided to put a €20M price tag on N’Koulou’s head.

The Cameroon international, whom Marseille signed from now-Ligue 2 side Monaco in 2011 for €3.5M, has a long-term contract with the club that will see him tied to the Stade Velodrome until 2015.

N’Koulou has already earned 36 caps for his country at international level.

It remains to be seen whether a side will test the water with a bid in the summer.
