Ajax coach Frank de Boer has revealed that Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp called him to congratulate him on winning the Dutch Eredivisie title – and then asked about Christian Eriksen.

Dortmund are keen on the 21-year-old starlet as a replacement for Mario Gotze, who is leaving in the summer to join Bayern Munich; the Bavarians have activated Gotze’s €37M release clause.

Eriksen’s contract with Ajax expires in 2014 and he has resisted penning an extension as he waits to see which clubs make a move for his services.

And De Boer expects Dortmund to be one of those sides.

"Jurgen Klopp called me to congratulate me on the title", De Boer told Voetbal International.

"Then he asked about Christian’s situation. He is definitely interested."

Dortmund may not have a free run at signing Eriksen though, with English Premier League giants Liverpool having been consistently linked with bidding for the Denmark international.

De Boer meanwhile faces losing a trio of top stars this summer, after guiding Ajax to a third consecutive Dutch crown.

Also tipped to depart along with Eriksen are defender Toby Alderweireld and forward Siem de Jong.
