West Ham United have already engaged in discussions with Merseyside giants Liverpool over the possibility of making Andy Carroll’s Upton Park stay permanent.

Carroll, who was brought into Anfield from Tyneside giants Newcastle United for a sum of £35M in January 2011, was loaned to West Ham before the beginning of the season last year, as the striker yearned for more first-team football.

Since then, Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has made no secret his desire for the 24-year-old striker to stay in London, adding that the deal will be the club’s "main priority" this summer.

"It is our target to make it a permanent situation", Allardyce told the BBC.

"Hopefully we can get somewhere in the near future to do that. It’s our main priority. There are negotiations between the club and Liverpool."

Allardyce also intends for Carroll to be the club’s main focal point next season, with other signings plotted so as to complement the striker’s abilities.

"If we can start with Andy Carroll, that would be a great achievement for us as he can only get better and better", Allardyce explained.

"Then we build around that in terms of how we want to improve next year, with better quality."
